Eyelashes

What are classic eyelash extensions?

Classic eyelash extensions are one faux synthetic mink fibers that are attached to one isolated natural eyelash. This style gives a very natural look. Fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness.

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift curls or “lifts” your NATURAL lashes so you don’t need your lash curler! This treatment lasts 6-8 weeks (or longer depending on your natural lash cycle) and is a great alternative to those who don’t want the maintenance of eyelash extensions. It is recommended that you don’t get them wet for 24 hours. After the 24 hours, you may go on with your daily routine! A new lash lift can be done at the 7-10 week mark.

How do I clean my eyelash extensions?

Clean your eyelash extensions with my Silver Esthetics Cleanser and Lash Cleansing Brush at least 3x a week. More if you wear makeup, have oily skin, go to the gym etc. With your eye closed, apply a half pump of the cleanser to your eyelid and with the brush, brush and work the cleanser through your eyelashes! Pat dry and fluff them with your disposable mascara wand. Repeat with the other eye.

Why do I need to clean my extensions?

Cleansing your extensions is EXTREMELY important. It prevents blepharitis; an eye disorder that causes the eyelids to become red, itchy and form dandruff-like scales. It also removes oil, dead skin and other debris that can cause premature shedding. Basically, clean lashes = better retention and no eye irritation. PLEASE take 30 seconds before your appointment to clean your lashes.

What happened if I get an allergic reaction? What do I do?

There are a few factors as to why your eyes can be itchy. If it was you first time getting extensions you may be allergic to the adhesive. 5% of the population is allergic to the adhesive and many are not aware. Some people develop an allergy as time goes on even with the extensions on. You know you’re allergic to the adhesive when the irritation does not subside after 24 hours. Seek professional, medical attention immediately if you think you have an allergic reaction. When applied correctly, your eyelash extensions should not irritate your eyes.

Hair Removal

How do I prepare for my first wax?
How long does my hair need to be?

I recommend you take an ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to your service! Females please schedule your services 5 days before or after your cycle. You are less sensitive during those times! Pregnancy, caffeine and alcohol can also increase your sensitivity. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and prepare for some deep breaths!  I need your hair to be at least 1/4in long. That is an average of 2-3 weeks of growth after shaving. Please do not trim your hair! If the hair is too short, I may not be able to remove it all.

What should I do in between my appointments?

It is not recommended to shave or tweeze in between appointments as it disrupts the hair growth making your next visit more uncomfortable. Most importantly, EXFOLIATE! Exfoliating will slough off your dead skin cells preventing ingrown hairs and break outs. It will ensure that your skin is smooth and that your hair grows evenly. I suggest to do this everyday in the shower!

If bumps or pimples do appear I suggest to put witch hazel or tea tree oil on the area. Tea tree oil is an antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial thus is a great treatment for breakouts. Witch Hazel is a natural astringent. It has the ability to remove excess oil from the skin. Dilute tea tree oil in Witch Hazel and it will reduce any kind of swelling.

What happens when my skin lifts? Why did that happen?

First off, I apologize if I have ever done this to you! Although it is rare for me to lift or take off your skin, it does happen! There can be several reasons as to why this happened. If you are using skin care that contains glycolic acid, salicylic acid and/or alpha hydroxyl acids of any kind, these can cause skin to lift. Another cause can be any kind of aggressive exfoliation (microdermabrasion, chemical peels etc). Prescribed medication such as Retin-A, Accutane, Proactiv which causes thinning of the skin results in lifted skin during your service! I do my best to be cautious but sometimes I just never know how your skin will react. I suggest to put Aquaphor on the affected area RELIGIOUSLY every single day until it goes away. This will keep the area hydrated and it will be less likely to scab.

How long will it take for my hair to grow back?

Typically, clients schedule their appointments every 3-4 weeks. However, everyone and all hair types are different. The more you wax the less hair grows, which means your next service will be less painful!

How long will my skin stay red?

Redness from waxing should subside after 24 hours or less. This does depend on the person and their skin type.

Can I wax on my period?

Yes! Many women get waxed during their cycle! I do suggest that you wear a tampon. However, you may be a little bit more sensitive. Don’t worry about what I think- if you don’t care, then I don’t care.
